Skills/Requirements:

  • Excellent written and spoken English.
  • Strong listening skills and ability to deal with customers on the phone and in person.
  • Ability to learn quickly.
  • Experience using Quickbooks and Simply
  • Experience doing manual bookkeeping
  • Ability to enter data quickly and accurately
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Have at a minimum five years experience of working in aoffice environment.

Remuneration:

RECEPTIONist/accounting clerk (Burnaby) (Full or part time Permanent Position)

Description of Duties: (Filled Mar 08)

  • Telephone and reception responsibility.
  • Assist clients with various enquires related to both their personal and business needs.
  • Maintain and manage the office file system and other administrative tasks.
  • Organize and prepare client files as required for business year end, payroll, GST/PST, permanent records, personal tax and other reports as required.
  • Schedule meetings with clients as required.
  • Manage work allocations and timelines for projects to meet office and client needs.
  • Prepare bank reconciliaitons and bookkeeping.

Skills/Requirements:

  • Excellent written and spoken English.
  • Strong listening skills and ability to deal with customers on the phone and in person.
  • Ability to learn quickly.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, even when doing routing or repetitive tasks
  • Knowledge of business methods, practices in order to understand client needs, and regulatory reporting requirements
  • Completed personal income tax preparation course or prior experience (the H&R Block Tax Preparation Course preferred).
  • Able to operate personal computers, handle a variety of software (such as Profile, Time Matters, QuickBooks, Microsoft Office), and other on-line applications.
  • Have at a minimum two years experience of working in an office environment.

Staff Accountant (Burnaby) (Full time Permanent Position)

Description of Duties: (Filled May 08)

  • Answer the phone and deal with clients.
  • Examine and analyze journal and ledger entries, bank statements, inventories, expenditures, tax returns, and other accounting and financial records, documents and systems fo an individual, company, or other establishment to ensure financial recording accuracy and compliance iwth established accounting standards, procedures and internal controls for compiliation, reivew or audit engagements.
  • Plan, set up and administer accounting systems and prepare draft financial statements for an individual, company, or other establishment compilation.
  • Able to prepare personal income tax returns.
  • Some supervision of junior staff.
  • Able to do simple payrolls, bank reconciliation, and bookkeeping.

Skills/Requirements:

  • Strong listening and verbal skills and will be expected to deal with customers on the phone and in person.
  • Knowledge of accounting methods and practices in order to understand business transactions or series of transactions where information may be incomplete.
  • Must have completed at the minimum the H&R Block Tax Preparation Course (or equivalent experience and training).
  • Basic understanding of business practices and commercial law.
  • Able to operate personal computer/laptops, handle a variety of software (such as Profile, Time Matters, Quickbooks, Mircosoft Office), and other on-line terminals.
  • A Bachelor Degree or an Accounting Designation.
  • Have at a minimum two years experience of working in an office environment.

Junior Accountant (Burnaby) (Student Co-op Programs)

Description of Duties: (Position filled for Jan 08 / Next available space expected Sep 08)

  • Bookkeeping both in office at client’s location.
  • Work on policy and procedures manual.
  • Manage all the files in office.
  • Filing.
  • Preparation of client files for year ends including working trial balance, bank reconciliation, and other working papers required for compilation, review or audit engagements.
  • Able to prepare personal income tax returns (only applicable to Jan-Apr period).
  • Able to do simple payrolls.
  • Answer the phone and deal with clients.

Skills/Requirements:

  • Knowledge of accounting methods and practices in order to understand business transactions or series of transactions where information may be incomplete.
  • Must have completed at the minimum the H&R Block Tax Preparation Course prior to employment (applicable to employment period involvement the months of March and April.
  • Individual will be involved in the preparation of several hundred personal income tax returns. (This requirement only applicable to the Jan-Apr work term).
  • Understanding of business practices and commercial law.
  • Preference given to those interested in a career in public practice and pursuing a CMA designation.
  • Operation of personal computer/laptops, software, and on-line terminals.
  • Listening skills & verbal/written skills and will be expected to deal with customers on the phone and in person.

Work Term: 8 months commencing on 01 Jan, 01 May, or 01 Sep each year.

Salary: Starting $10-13/hour.
